Hi friends, I’m Brandon! I have recently joined the Anchors team as our Social Media Manager/ Blog Writer. Needless to say, I am extremely excited to work with a brand that I truly believe in and use every single day. Coming into this position, interaction with you, the community, is my utmost priority. I’m chock-full of community-centered ideas that I seriously cannot wait to bring to you all.
Serving as the first line of contact between our company and our customers is something that I don’t take lightly, but also want to make sure is a pleasant and fun experience all-around. That being said, let’s keep it loose and let’s get social, baby! Since we like to keep it serious-yet-silly here, I felt that the following Q & A were good indicators as to who exactly the face behind the Anchors account is:
Q1: If all the Anchors products fought to the death, which would win & why?
This is a toughie, because I seriously love and use every product, aside from the beard oil (curse you, nonexistent beard). However, I would have to declare Courage Clay the inevitable victor for a few reasons. First of all, it’s the newest of the entire bunch, so it would be fresh out the pack and ready to brawl. Second, if we consider the name “Courage Clay”, it’s implicit that it’s not afraid to go all Conor McGregor on the others. A
*Note: I might be a tad bit biased, because Courage Clay is my go-to each day, since the day it came out.
Q2: Dude who are you and what is your purpose?
Sometimes I wonder the same thing… (please excuse my self-depreciating humor in these blogs henceforth). But seriously, I am a college student at the University of Tennessee Knoxville studying Marketing and Entrepreneurship. I met Ben back in 2015 when I started getting my hair cut by him at Lox Salon. I feel that he very quickly became my “pseudo-therapist” after we shared life stories. He actually doesn’t know this, but he was the only one to cut my hair at that point other than my mother. So you know the homie trust is real. He reached out to me earlier this year with a potential job opportunity working for him at Anchors and I knew that I was interested the moment I saw the first sentence on the email. Now here we are, rockin’ and rollin’ on this social media game.
Q3: What can we expect now from the Anchors social accounts and blog?
I have got some pretty stellar ideas in the works, and I really cannot wait to bring that to the individuals who really enjoy our products. Just be on the lookout for some very interactive unique stuff with the Instagram particularly. As for the blogs, we’re going to keep it interesting for sure. The primary focus is of course, at its core, about hair. However, that isn’t to say that we won’t explore a little bit—don’t rule out some tangent topics such as menswear or men’s health. Just to name a few. I really have some interesting ideas for interactive community-focused projects. I’m really looking forward to showing you guys what I’ve got!
Q4: In a battle between Octopus People and Shark People, who would win?
Yes. These are the questions that we need to be asking. Personally, the octopus species is just so eerily ominous to me. I truly believe that the octopi would reign supreme. I don’t know though. I’d like to know what Ben thinks on this crucial issue.
Well, friends, I’m signing this bad boy off! Hope you learned a little about where I stand on the important issues facing our country. Don’t forget to follow us @anchorshairco on Instagram and follow this blog bi-weekly!
It’s been forever since I’ve posted on the journal and I apologize for that. It’s a good thing AND a bad thing! Haha. I guess it means that the handmade hair product business has been BOOMING, but I haven’t been able to catch everyone up to speed with developments and what not.
I’m releasing a STRONG HOLD POMADE here in the next few weeks. The scent is AMAZING! It’s the same pliable, cream consistency with a stronger more shinier hold.
I hope everyone has an amazing Memorial Day and PLEASE check back!!

I was honored to have a famous New York City male model stop in and model some Courage Clay hair clay and Teddy Boy Original pomade. This dude has awesome hair and style and the photos are incredible!!
You can check him out on instagram at @michaeldean2.0 . Don’t believe the stereotypes of the zoolander male models because they’re not all true. He was super cool, down to earth and very intelligent. He works very hard at his career and has a long future ahead.
It just so happens that one of my best friends is married to this stud’s sister. He was in for the holidays and decided to stop in and say hello. Yes, we put him to work! haha.
Tara, or Dixiepixelphoto.com , took the photos. She’s freakin insanely talented and I was so stoked to have her. We will be posting pictures soon so WATCH OUT!!
I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas!!

Christmas for the handcrafted pomade business is a VERY busy time! Things are already starting to heat up for web orders and for wholesalers. For me, it’s an exciting time because of all of the new hands that my hair products will be in. I love the thought of new users cracking open that shrink seal and opening up their product for the first time. Some may not love it, but most will.
As crazy as it sounds, a new hair product can change a person’s life! It all starts with a new hair style that complements their facial features and body type. Then you find that product that supports that look and bam! Confidence in a can! or jar.. or tin.. haha..
Hair products make amazing gifts for family, friends or secret santas at work that you have no clue what to buy them! EVERYONE uses hair product (unless they’re bald of course).
My friend Eric emailed me a video of his son today that’s a young aspiring actor. His son CJ is a complete bada$$ and I hope the best for him and his acting career. The reason I bring this up is because, if he never makes it in the cut throat world of acting, he will totally have a career in hair!! He uses the new vegan matte courage clay that I’m releasing soon. He has this whole routine of blow drying, brushing and I just wish I would’ve had this much sense when I was a kid.. haha. Check it out and go support him!

For those of you that actually read this bad boy, you’re getting the inside scoop. I’m proud to secretly announce “Courage Clay” a vegan all natural hair clay that consists of silica (earth’s crust), bentonite (volcanic ash) and other great natural waxes and oils. I’ve just received the labels and am currently planning on a release date.
If you’re looking for a great no shine, high hold product, this is the one for you. I can’t even express to you how much I love it. I personally don’t love my hair when it’s dry and voluminous, I like the slick back look. I have a big body frame and a small head, so sometimes I feel that I look like a troll doll when my hair is dry and poofy. I’m also a very low maintenance dude. I like to towel dry my hair, throw in some pomade, comb, set and go! This clay goes against all of my hair rules and I’m more than okay with it.
Being a hairstylist, I’ve always been about the blow dry. “YOU HAVE TO BLOW DRY FIRST!!” are the words that would always come out of my mouth. Dude’s would look at me like I was crazy! But no more. My favorite way of handling this product is to apply it to towel dried hair and let it harden. Then, once it’s dry, finger comb my hair into place. Ir honestly looks like I have nothing in my hair! And it will stay in for days.
Be on the lookout for this amazing all natural hair clay, because it’s sure to blow your mind.
Well, Halloween 2016 is over and I’m pretty bummed. Actually, it’s a love/hate feeling. October has one of the busiest months of my life!! Last October was as well because that’s when I got married. BUT, this one was a different type of busy. Going here, going there, doing this, doing that. Whew! Anyways..
I have an amazing hair clay coming out in the next few weeks. I just ordered the labels for them as well as a ton of jars. I can’t wait to get it out into the world. I think people are really going to love it. It’s a high hold, no shine, very natural/vegan formula. It even has volcanic ash AND particles from the earth’s crust (silica) in it. It’s a product for my matte fans and the scent has a very natural/sweet smell. A lot of pomades now days have spicy, musky smells. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that women need to love the scent just as much as the man buying it.
We did a really great hair photo shoot this month as well. My long time friend and sales consultant Nick Cox from Knoxville, TN was the model in the photos and my associate and good friend Taylor Isaacs from Knoxville, TN took the pictures. Taylor owns a company called The Simple Branding Co. and is an awesome photographer with great ideas. Look for some new branding material and ads coming out soon. And if you do see something scream out at the top of your lungs “WHOA, I KNOW THESE DUDES!!”
Well, my son’s about to wake up and it’s time to get the day started. I’m sorry it’s taken so long to write something, but I promise to have a ton of great hair tutorials and hair product news coming soon.

In my humble opinion, I believe that a loose, natural hair style is the best for the fall season. Let’s face it, fall is typically windier, the leaves are falling and it starts to chill up a bit. Women typically start dying their hair darker and leaving their hair a little longer in prep for the winter as do men. It’s okay to look a little unkempt for the winter time, I mean it’s freakin cold and you have to deal with the holidays!! Haha. But in all seriousness, it’s way better to focus more on life and your surroundings than to be so anal about your hair.
During the fall/winter seasons, I usually stay pretty low maintenance. After I shower and wash my hair with the sulfate free, revolutionary handmade shampoo and conditioner Teddy Boy Rise & Shine, I towel dry my hair very vigorously for at least 20 seconds. I then comb my hair into a side part / pompadour and let my hair dry naturally. When my hair’s finally dry, I work a dime size amount of Teddy Boy Matte from the back of my hair to the front, then from the front to the back and side to side. I then piece out the style I’m trying to achieve and let the product dry on. One of my favorite things about this pomade is that it lasts for days, so I honestly don’t need to wash my hair every single day!
You should give it a try! Buy all natural, handmade hair products here

This week has been rough! Sinuses, allergies and colds have been running rampant through my household. My kid was sick, then my wife was sick, I thought I had missed it for sure!! .. but no. Sick as a dog. But that hasn’t stopped me from working!!
I’ve been pumping out pumpkin spiced pomade like it’s going out of style. I’ve also had a ton of Teddy Boy Slick pomade orders, which is awesome! I think it’s because of the weather. The wind out there is terrible and it hasn’t been slowing down. Applying a hair pomade that has great hold, shine and durability is a must for windy weather.
It sounds a little gross, but when the weather cools down, people tend to shower less. It’s great to have a water based hair pomade like the Teddy Boy Original pomade or the Pumpkin Spiced pomade that is easily re-fixable.
It goes like this. You wake up, go into the bathroom, get frightened at the picture hanging up that just so happens to be a mirror, douse a little water on your hair, comb back into place and let it dry. Bam. You’re human again!
